CARE PHILOSOPHY:   The unexamined life is not worth living.  Socrates, 469-399 B.C.
The goal for this practice is to provide up-to-date psychiatric care for the men, women and children who need to address psychological problems and challenges in Southern Jersey.

When a person experiences a significant degree of distress, psychiatry can offer a comprehensive means of help.  I work together with the patient to relieve emotional distress and to manage problems of the mind.  There are four perspectives of psychiatry: 1) The medical or disease model; 2) Behavioral models; 3) Life event models, and 4) The dimensions of personality.  Each perspective provides a unique path to understanding the individual's or family's difficulty in life.  These perspectives may be used alternately or consecutively to guide the therapy.

Some problems are best resolved with medication and talk therapy and others with talk therapy alone.  I do both.  The overall approach is to use cautious optimism.
